Wadley moves forward with streetscape project

At last week’s meeting of Wadley Town Council, the council approved Sain Engineering to handle the grant and work on the downtown streetscape project. The project includes major improvements to the downtown area and will include new sidewalks, drainage repairs, planters and a number of other items. The total cost of the project is an estimated $1,093,000. The town will provide approximately $170,000 from ARPA funds. The total town share is $305,957.

In other business, the council:

Approved a maximum of 3 part time employees for the summer at a rate of $9 per hour.

Approved the school sales tax holiday July 21-23.

Approved the Municipal Water Pollution and Prevention report.

Scheduled a called council meeting for Tuesday, May 9 at 5 pm.

Scheduled the next regular council meeting for Monday, June 5 at 5 pm.
