County school board appoints new member

At last week’s meeting of Randolph County School Board, the board approved the nomination of Margie Murphy to fill the unexpired term of the late Jimmy McCain. McCain passed away earlier this year. Mrs. Murphy retired from the Randolph County School System in 2021 after 29 years. She served as Child Nutrition Program Director and Student Information System Manager.

She said on her appointment, “I am honored to be selected to complete Jimmy McCain’s term. I have known him all my life and know that we share the same feeling for the Randolph County School System. I want only the best for the system, its employees and students.”

Personnel actions

Prior to approving personnel actions, the board met in executive session to discuss the good name and character of individuals. After returning from the session, the board approved:

– Dr. Sherry Ashe as principal at Wadley High School effective June 1, 2023.  The contract will be approved at the May Board meeting.- Oliver Woody McLintock as a substitute bus driver.

– The resignation, due to retirement, of Belinda Mock, ½ time counselor at Woodland Elementary and ½  time counselor Rock Mills Jr. High effective June 1, 2023.

– The resignation of Ladonna Perkins, EL teacher for Randolph County effective May 26, 2023.

– The transfer request of Pamela Barber from elementary teacher at Wedowee Middle School to elementary teacher at Rock Mills Jr. High School, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.

– The transfer request of Donna Phillips from elementary teacher at Rock Mills Jr. High School to elementary teacher at Wedowee Middle School, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.

– The resignation, due to retirement, of Goldie Davenport, lunchroom worker at Woodland High School, effective with the end of the 2022-2023 school year. 

– The transfer request of Chad Kendrick, from principal at Rock Mills Jr. High, to teacher for the Alternative Learning Center effective July 1, 2023.

– The resignation of Chad Kendrick, principal at Rock Mills Junior High School, effective June 30, 2023.

– The resignation, due to retirement, of Ezell Potter, bus driver and paraprofessional effective with the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

– The transfer of Jonathan Andrews special education bus driver, AIDB, to bus driver at RCHS effective April 25, 2023.

– Audrey Ferguson as special needs bus aide effective April 25, 2023.

– Oliver McClintock as special needs bus driver, RCHS and AIDB, effective April 25, 2023.

– The contract with Christine Kline to provide RN nursing services at the rate of $140.00/school day and $70.00/half day.

– Dr. Sherry Ashe as principal at Wadley High School effective June 1, 2023.  The contract will be approved at the May Board meeting.

– Sandra West as CNP Worker (Cook) at Woodland Elementary School effective with the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
