County volunteer firefighters honored at annual banquet

Over 210 of Randolph County’s finest were honored at the Randolph County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments (RCAVFD) Annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on April 15.

Randolph County volunteer firefighters selflessly served their communities by responding to 2,596 calls for assistance throughout 2022.

The annual appreciation banquet brings together volunteer firefighters and those that support them, to include; local and state government officials, Emergency Management Agency personnel, Alabama Forestry Commission personnel, E911 telecommunicators, law enforcement officers, emergency medical responders, personnel from the Alabama Fire College, and most importantly, their families.

This year’s event was hosted by the Wadley VFD and featured Chuck Potts as the guest speaker. RCAVFD President, Justin Johnson, presided over the event where attendees were treated with a fried catfish and shrimp supper prepared by Sid Lockhart.

Annual awards were also presented to Jason Daniel from Rock Mills VFD and Aaron Reaves from Corinth VFD as Firefighters of the year; Joe Craft from Wedowee VFD was also presented with the Outstanding Achievement/Leadership award; and Chief Tim Sikes from A&M VFD was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for over 39 years as Chief.
