Farr has last meeting as Commission chairman

At Monday’s meeting of Randolph County, Chairman Derek Farr noted it was his last meeting as chairman. Farr has served as chairman for the last several months in the rotation system. Farr will hand the gavel over to Commissioner Pam Johnson. Farr thanked his fellow commissioners and all county employees for their work and cooperation during his term. Johnson will chair her first meeting in May.

In other business, the commission:

Approved removing from the table a request from the fire association to help with the cost of upkeep for the county’s outdoor warning sirens. No decision will be made at the present time pending additional information.

Approved a quote of $1,500 to repair the door lock system on the district judge and district attorney’s office with Farr voting no. It was agreed to ask the judge and attorney to pay half the cost.

Approved to spend American Rescue Plan funds to replace 20 air scrubbers.

Declined a request from the Town of Wedowee to put a banner on the courthouse because the commission would have to allow others to place signs and banners as well.

Rescheduled the Monday, April 24 meeting to Tuesday, April 25 due to the regular meeting falling on a holiday.

Approved a Free Day at the landfill on Saturday, April 15.

Approved submitting an application to upgrade the board of registrars GIS system.

Adopted a resolution in honor of Fair Housing Month.
