Melinda Holloway Hardin

(WEDOWEE) Funeral services for Mrs. Melinda Holloway Hardin, 60, of Wedowee, will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral home of Ashland with Rev. Claude Bennett and Rev. Doug Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Hardin passed away on April 1 at UAB in Birmingham. She was born in Clay County and was a graduate of Lineville High School. She worked at Goodwill as an assistant manager, Clay County Nursing home as a nursing assistant, Department of Human Resources and as quality control at White Knight Healthcare in Childersburg. After working for so many years she then became a homemaker and traveled all over the country with her husband of 40 years. She especially loved the mountains. In her spare time she loved planting flowers, gardening and riding horses. She also enjoyed just talking to people because she always put others before herself.

Mrs. Hardin is survived by her spouse, William Carlos Hardin of Wedowee; her daughter, Crystal Lynn Waldrop of Lineville; her stepson, Billy Wayne Hardin of Rainsville; her mother, Evelyn Snyder (Tolly) of Childersburg; her sister, Penny Kircus of Sylacauga: her nephew, Andrew Smith of Sylacauga; a great nephew Greyson Smith; and two great nieces, Whitley and Sonny Smith.

She is preceded in death by her father: Aaron Marion Holloway; her son George Nicholas Waldrop; one stepson, William Brian Hardin.

Active pallbearers will be Andrew Smith, Chuck Milstead, Roger Key, Michael Holloway, Carey Holloway and Buddy Holloway.

Her visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 4, at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland from noon until service time at 2 p.m.
