Kids survive, two adults dead after head-on collision

An accident on Highway 22 between Roanoke and Rock Mills last Wednesday claimed the lives of two Roanoke women and left four boys and another woman injured.

The accident was a head-on collision between the 2021 Toyota Highlander driven by Donna Hand of Roanoke and the 2017 Dodge Journey driven by Amber Scott., and it occurred just before 5 p.m. last Wednesday.

Scott, 34, and her passenger Marcia Diggs, 61, were both killed as a result of the collision.

The four boys, who range in age from 3-11, are brothers and were passengers in the car driven by Scott. Ayden Scott, Amari Brock, Jaceyon Scott and Rodaryum Brock, were all transported from the scene of the accident to nearby hospitals via helicopter. They have since been treated for their injuries and released.

Hand also was transported by helicopter. Five separate helicopters were called to the scene to transport the injured.

A bank account has been set up at First Bank of Wadley to receive donations for the boys, who were left without two of their primary caretakers because of the accident.

There is also a GoFundMe account set up to receive donations for funeral expenses for Diggs and Amber Scott.
