Vernon Brown

(WOODLAND) Funeral services for Vernon Brown, 82, of Woodland will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Spradlin and Bro. Terry Graham. Burial will follow at Levens Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m. on Thursday before services begin.

Mr. Brown passed away on Monday, March 13, at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kim Rice (Harold Rice, Jr.) of Wedowee; three grandchildren, Teshia Heard (Jeff) of Woodland, Shauna Milner (William) and Krystal Payne (John), both of Wedowee; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Vera Luker of Lineville; and one brother, Junior Brown of Wedowee.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Brown, Buck Heard, Todd Parrish, Ted Brown, Anthony Milner, Ty Payne, and Austin Brown.

A Wedowee native, Mr. Brown was born on Aug. 13, 1940, the son of Bob and Annie Bolt Brown. He was Baptist by faith and worked as a store manager for Poole’s Grocery and Service before retiring. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers.
