Michael Eugene Ussery

(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Michael Eugene Ussery, 64, of Roanoke were Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dalton Hammock officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Ussery passed away Saturday, March 11, at his residence.

Survivors include his father, Jasper Eugene Ussery; his wife, Shirley Bassett Ussery; sons, Timothy Ussery of Valley and Thomas Ussery of Chambers County; stepson, Timothy Lowery of Beulah; two grandchildren, Cheyenne Ussery and Bryleigh Lowery; close friend, Teresa Kirby; sisters, Shelia Boyd of Bacon Level and Regina Jackson of Roanoke.

Pallbearers were Lee Bennett, Kim Bassett, Jacob Daniel, Chris Jackson, and Ed Washburn.

Mr. Ussery was born in Fort Sheridan, IL, on Nov. 19, 1958, the son of Jasper Eugene Ussery and Lela Laverne Stephens Ussery. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Valley and worked over 25 years as a maintenance supervisor at West Point Pepperell. He was an avid TV watcher, mainly sci-fi, and he loved watching Al Bundy on “Married With Children.” In his free time, he enjoyed doing mechanical work on diesel motors, particularly bulldozers. He was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Jason Ussery.
