Patricia “Pat” Self McCard
(KINGSPORT, Tenn.) Patricia “Pat” Self McCard, 67, a devoted wife, mother, and animal lover, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 18, 1955 in Roanoke, Pat lived a rich and fulfilling life, spending the majority of it near Kingsport and Blountville, Tenn. She also lived briefly in other locations, but wherever she went, she made a lasting impact with her deep love for horses, animals and family.
She will be deeply missed by her husband and best friend of 50 years, Greg McCard; daughter, Amanda Hensley and husband Jessie Hensley of Kingsport, Tenn.; son, Brandon McCard of Vienna, Ga.; two sisters, Sandra Self Mapp Daugherty near Gadsden and Carol Self Mapp of Northport; two brothers, Richard Allen Self of Charlotte, N.C. and Reuben D. Self of Roanoke; and her three adoring grandchildren, Aaron, Mason and Ellison.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben Allen (Billy) Self and Margaret Louise Earl Self, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to organizations that promote the care and adoption of animals, a cause that was near and dear to Pat’s heart.
Although Pat cherished the love and support of family and friends, it was her wish for no formal service.
May Pat’s legacy of kindness and compassion continue to inspire us all.
