Mary Catherine Johnson

(NEWELL) Funeral services for Mary Catherine Johnson, 83, of Auburn, Ga., formerly of Anniston were Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at noon at Jordan’s Chapel Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Chris Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Ms. Johnson passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at MeSun Hospice in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Survivors include: one daughter, Rechima Anderson Phillips of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one granddaughter, Ashleigh Phillips of Auburn, Ga.; one brother, Donald Johnson (Shirley) of Woodland; and a niece Sheila Beard (Joey) of Huntsville.

A Newell native, Ms. Johnson was born on Nov. 11, 1939, the daughter of Herman T. and Dura Lee Stephens Johnson. She was a member of Parker Memorial Church in Anniston and worked in banking before retiring. Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Leroy Johnson and sister-in-law, Betty.
