Jimmy Eugene McKinney

(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Jimmy Eugene McKinney, 83, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Aaron McCollough officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13.

Mr. McKinney passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, at his home.

Survivors include: two daughters, Donna Craft of Grantville, Ga, and Tammy Satterwhite of Panama City, Fla.; one son, Brandon McKinney (Shelby) of Tucker, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Nikki Sankey (Jon), B.J. Satterwhite, Anna Tow (Trevor), Mitchell Porter, Megan Satterwhite, Hudson McKinney, and Blake McKinney; one great-grandchild, Millie Sankey; three siblings, Larry McKinney (Cheryl), Delores Barnett (Hank), and Gary McKinney (Brenda), all of Trussville; and very special friend, Freddie Hill.

Pallbearers will be Sam Shelnutt, Daryl Harmon, David Harmon, Stefon Watkins, Eucerio Cannon and Brandon McKinney.

A longtime Roanoke resident, Mr. McKinney was born in Argo, Alabama, on Dec. 23, 1939, the son of James O. and Vivian Owens McKinney. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States military where he served in the US Army National Guard and finished as an E-6 Staff Sergeant. Mr. McKinney was employed with Liberty National Life Insurance Company from 1962-1990, where he was promoted to sales manager in 1980. In 1990, he opened his own insurance company that he ran until retirement. Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by his parents and his wife and love of his life, Sarah Catherine Lee McKinney.
