INCIDENT REPORTS

On November 24, 2022, a fire investigation began at 7312 Old Hwy 431, Newell. An abandoned house on the property was fully involved when the dispatched deputy arrived and the Morrison Crossroads Fire Department was already on scene containing the blaze. The property owner, Mrs. Angie Key, stated that the old house was run down and falling apart. The Morrison Fire Department stayed on the scene to prevent the fire from spreading, allowing the house to burn out.

On November 28, 2022, a deputy was dispatched to the residence of 1892 Co Rd 436 in reference to a farmer’s cattle hay ring being stolen from his pasture. Upon arriving at the scene, the deputy spoke to a Mr. Kim Mitchell, who stated that he last checked on his cattle here in Alabama on Saturday, as he and his wife live across the state line. Mr. Mitchell stated that he found drag marks in the dirt where someone apparently dragged the hay ring from where it was sitting at the top of the hill. Mr. Mitchell stated that he has searched the entire pasture, but did not find the hay ring.

On November 30, 2022, Mr. Terry Wiggins walked into the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and stated that he needed to file a report in reference to someone dumping trash, tires, furniture and animal remains off the side of Country Rd 110 and in the Tanyard Branch. Mr. Wiggins stated that this has been going on for more than a month and that the trash has washed into the Tanyard Branch. Mr. Wiggins stated that he has taken some of the trash bags home and went through them in an attempt to find a name, but had no luck.

On December 5, 2022, a deputy was dispatched to Co Rd 101, Woodland, in reference to a theft. The deputy arrived on scene and spoke with Mr. Jason Christopher Watts who advised that he had a 12” Dewalt Compound Miter Saw stolen off his porch sometime that day. Mr. Watts advised that at around 10:36 that morning the dogs inside the house were going crazy as if someone were outside. Mr. Watts stated that he did not know who might have taken it, but that he wanted to make a report on the incident.
