Dollar General closes on Woodland property

Dollar General has completed its purchase of property in Woodland with an eye on building a new store in the town.

The sale of the piece of property, which was formerly the Lamar Manufacturing building, was finalized Wednesday of last week, according to Woodland mayor Scott Carter.

The next major hurdle to construction of the store is the demolition of the dilapidated building that currently sits on the property. The building has sat empty for many years, leaving questions about some of the details of razing the building and preparing the property for new construction.

That uncertainty also leaves the timeline for the beginning of construction unsettled as well, but once the site is cleared, building the new store should only take a few months to complete.

Dollar General would be the second major addition to Woodland after the opening of the town’s Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store at the corner of County Road 59 and Highway 22 last year.
