Jerry Bennett

(ROANOKE) The funeral for Jerry Bennett, 60, of Roanoke will be Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at 1 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church of Roanoke with Pastor Rendell Smith and Bishop Gary McNeily officiating.

Jerry will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday.

Jerry passed away Friday, Oct. 28, at his home.

A Roanoke native, Jerry was born April 2, 1962, the son of Harvey and Okerlene Vowell Bennett. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Roanoke and was a mill worker at Lanett Bleacher and Dye Works and Amoco Fabrics and Fibers and also managed Big Chic Restaurant in LaGrange, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Christy Davis Bennett of Roanoke; three daughters, Kendra Burks of Valley and Shelby Johnson (Chris) and Brandy Joiner (Chris), both of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Peyton Clark, Reygan Clark, Kennedy Johnson, Karter Johnson, Kamari Joiner, Kalani Joiner and Kaliah Joiner; three nephews and one niece; and two great-nephews and two great-nieces. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Terry Bennett and Jimmy Bennett; and father-in-law, Fred Davis.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Brazell, Leon Joiner, Greg Johnson, Gene Ferrell, Stan Manley and Bernard Sheppard.
