Roanoke PD makes major drug bust

Roanoke Police officers found a significant amount of narcotics when they served a search warrant on Nook Street on Friday of last week.

The resident, Curry Damon “Poonie” Whitlow, 46, of 135 Nook St. was arrested on the scene and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking cocaine, trafficking marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Other charges may be pending.

The search yielded 4.1 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, 2.9 pounds of marijuana, 5 ounces of cocaine/crack-cocaine, jars of suspected moonshine and a loaded handgun.

Over eight pounds of illegal drugs were seized during the drug bust in Roanoke Friday.
