HHS students host ‘cemetery tour’ in October

In conjunction with Fall on Main and Mayhem on Main, Handley High School Community Studies students have made 11 informational short documentaries, via YouTube and TikTok, on several well known Roanoke citizens buried in Cedarwood Cemetery. Each video ranges from one to three minutes.

QR codes will be placed next to the graves of these prominent citizens for the month of October. Local history lovers are encouraged to walk the older portion of the cemetery (nearest Main Street) and search for the QR codes to learn more about Roanoke’s historic past.

All you need to view the videos is your camera app, headphones/earbuds, and a love for local history. Headphones are a must so you can hear each video against the backdrop of the bustling downtown traffic. (Further instructions will be posted inside the brick gates of Cedarwood.)
