Jewel Danny Hopkins

(CENTRALHATCHEE, Ga.) Jewel Danny Hopkins, 81, of Centralhatchee, Ga., passed away Sept. 17, 2022.

His funeral was Monday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. EDT in the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home. Interment was in Heard County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hopkins was born April 9, 1941, at Fort Benning, Ga., to the late Jewel Hopkins and Vera Amason Hopkins. He was a member of Noon Day Church of Wedowee. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was retired from Southwire where he worked as a forklift operator. In his free time, he liked to go hunting. He also enjoyed traveling and camping. He had a great way of telling stories that kept everyone’s attention. He had a tender heart, was generous and would help anyone in their time of need as best he could. He dearly loved children, and every child he met brought him great joy.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Arrington of Centralhatchee; children, Keith Hopkins (Hellen) of Wedowee, Chad Hopkins (Lori) and Jarrett Hopkins (Rachel), both of Wadley, Harry Arrington, Dean Arrington and Teresa Griffin (Ronnie), all of Centralhatchee, and Cynthia Strickland of Roopville, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Bradley; beloved dog, Oliver; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nathaniel Nauman and Ashley Arrington; sister, Linda Watkins; and brother, Edgar Hopkins.
