Richard Jerry Brown

(LaGRANGE, Ga.) Richard Jerry Brown, 81, son of the late Avery Brown and late Mary Fetner Brown, died on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, of natural causes.

A memorial service will be Thursday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. EDT at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

Jerry was living in LaGrange, Ga., at the time but, was originally from Huguley. He spent many years in Florida, Georgia, Japan, Texas, and of course, his home state of Alabama. He served in the Air Force Reserve for four years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, Scouting, the Auburn Tigers and serving Southern barbecue at his restaurant Happy Trails when it was open near Roanoke.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara Lewis; children, Robin Gillenwaters (Donnie), Susan Strickland (Jim), Jerome Brown (Teresa) and Daniel Brown; ex-wife, Deborah Brown; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jerry was also preceded in death by his eldest son, Rick Brown.
