Dig experience to raise funds for museum

The Randolph County Historical Museum Committee is sponsoring a public archeological “dig experience” on Saturday, Sept. 24, as a fundraiser to support the restoration of Randolph County Historical Museum. The event will take place, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to noon.

With only 15 slots available on a first-come, first-serve basis, the cost for participants is $25 per person, ages 12 and up (12-17 year olds must be accompanied by a paying adult). Space is reserved only after payment is received. Payment may be mailed to RCHM at PO Box 430, Roanoke, AL 36274 or sent via PayPal to randolphcohistoricalmuseum@gmail.com. All payments are non-refundable.

Please contact Merredith Sears via Facebook or email (msears@roanokecityschools.org) by Sept. 15 if you plan to attend; more specific information will be shared at that time.

Legal forms releasing landowner and museum from liability will be signed upon arrival at the dig. Please bring lunch, water and gloves. Wear old, comfortable clothes and shoes.

Cathy and Steve Murphy of Wedowee participated in the archaeological dig last year.
