Roanoke infant survives accidental gunshot wound
A 10-month-old Roanoke boy is in Children’s Hospital in Birmingham being treated for an accidental gunshot wound he suffered at his home on Monday night.
The baby’s father and grandmother were in the Border Street house when he went into his father’s room where the 9 mm handgun was lying out. The boy’s father and grandmother both told investigators that they were in another room when they heard the pop of the gun.
The baby suffered an injury to his right palm and right side (entrance and exit). He was alert and breathing when responders arrived and was transported by Air Evac. The baby is reported to be in stable condition.
