James Henry Dunson

(LaGRANGE, Ga.) James Henry Dunson, 70, of LaGrange, Ga., died Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be Monday, July 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. EDT at Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home in LaGrange.

The funeral will be Tuesday, July 12, at 1 p.m. EDT at Eastside Baptist Church, LaGrange.

James Henry Dunson was born June 29, 1952, to the late Charlie Frank Dunson Sr. and Fannie Mary Jenkins Dunson in Roanoke. As a child, Jimmy united with First Baptist Church of Roanoke. He graduated from Randolph County Training School in Roanoke in 1970. Jimmy attended Southern Union State Junior College in Wadley. While attending college, he met the love of his life, Esther; and the two were married in 1974. Once Jimmy moved to LaGrange, he united with Eastside Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon and was a member of Eastside Male Chorus. Jimmy retired from Milliken and Company’s Hillside Plant in LaGrange after 40-plus years of service as a quality control inspector.

He is survived by his wife, Esther; daughter, Adrienne; grandson, Cameron; siblings, Barbara O’Hara, Leroy Dunson (Claranett) and Debra Royston (Mayfield), all of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Luneda Billingslea and Rose Wood, both of Lanett, Trudye Johnson of West Point, Ga., and Alesia Lyles of Opelika; brothers-in-law, John Morgan Jr. of Birmingham and Geryl Morgan of Lanett; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Frank Dunson Jr.
