Bike Hike raises big bucks for RCLC
2022 Bike Hike Totals
This year’s Bike Hike to benefit Randolph County Learning Center raised $148,065.
Subtotals from various fundraisers include:
- bake sale – $2,846;
- pageant – $2,000;
- day cares and preschools – $4,225;
- local schools – $46,517;
- auction – $4,000;
Peachtree Early Learning Center raised $1,077, and The Children’s Treehouse raised $3,148.
Roanoke City Schools raised $28,689. This includes:
- Knight-Enloe Elementary School – $11,482 (Katie Hodges’ first-grade class raised the most.);
- Handley Middle School – $15,000;
- Handley High School – $1,916; and
- Central Office – $291.
The $15,000 raised by HMS is the most ever raised for Bike Hike by a school.
Randolph County Schools raised $17,828. This includes:
- Woodland Elementary – $5,622 (Whitney Loveless’ second-grade class raised the most.);
- Wedowee Elementary – $4,732 (Kelly Brown’s second-grade class raised the most.);
- Wedowee Middle – $4,030 (Jill Phillips’ fourth- and Dawn Hall’s sixth-grade classes raised the most.);
- Rock Mills – $2,067 (Shannan Banks’ third-grade class raised the most.) and
- Wadley – $1,377 (Hayle Williams’ pre-K class raised the most.)
The total raised on Warm-Up Day was $ 62,021. The auction brought in $4,000.
Bike Hike Day saw pledges/donations of $26,455. These came from staff and individuals who attend RCLC – $23,330 – and $2,685 from other supporters.
Drawing winners were: $100 bill – Alexis Johnson; quilt – Donnie Hill; and dollhouse – Morgan Duncan.
Participants
Seventy-six participants and 45 volunteers made this year’s Bike Hike such a success.
Freddie Hill was the oldest participant, and 2-year-old River Rollins was the youngest.
