Accident fatal for Roanoke man

PARAN – A single-vehicle crash at approximately 11:27 a.m. Saturday, May 7, has claimed the life of a Roanoke man.

Franklin D. Knight, 86, was fatally injured when the 2004 Honda Accord he was driving left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned. Knight, who was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Highway 22 near Paran and the Georgia state line.

According to Randolph County E-911, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Mills Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Transport also responded to the call.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
