Gerald Higgins
(ROANOKE) The funeral for Gerald Higgins, 73, of Roanoke will be Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Methodist Church Cemetery, Wedowee.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. Higgins passed away Wednesday, April 13, at UAB Hospital on Birmingham.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Higgins was born Sept. 4, 1948, the son of Howard and Parilee Nix Higgins. He was Christian by faith and a member of Bethel West Baptist Church. Mr. Higgins honorably served in the U.S. Army in the military police when he was in the 82nd Airborne Division. He had worked in maintenance for Kimberly Clark.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Pate Higgins of Roanoke; daughter, Kimberly Stallings (Chris) of Roanoke; and two sisters, Sarah Ann Vinson and Brenda Johnson, both of South Carolina. Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Zach Higgins; and brother, Cherl Higgins.
Pallbearers will be Ted Rorrer, Chris Vinson, Mike Vinson, Dean Vinson, Chris Stallings and William Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be W.C. Pate and Donnie Wayne Grant Jr.
