Multiple injuries, no fatalities in Wadley High School bus wreck
A Randolph County school bus carrying students from the Randolph-Roanoke Career Tech Center to Wadley High School crashed and overturned Tuesday afternoon on County Road 33 near the intersection with state Highway 22.
A total of 13 passengers – 12 students and the driver – were transported from the scene by ambulance, all to Tanner Medical Center in Wedowee, none with injuries that were deemed life threatening at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved. The roads were wet from several hours of rain Tuesday, and that may have contributed to the accident.
A total of 25 students and a driver were on the bus, according to ALEA. The ones that were not taken to the hospital went back to Wadley High School and were given one more check by EMTs before being sent home.
Investigators from ALEA remained on the scene for several hours after the crash.
