Thefts

A resident of County Road 59 said she applied for a sales tax license from an on-line company, not knowing this should be free. Her money was returned to her once, but then she noticed the amount had been removed from her account again.

A television, stereo, skill saw, power saw, air compressor, cordless drill and set of china were reported stolen from a residence on County Road 82 in Newell on March 1. The complainant said a woman had used his blue 2008 Nissan Maxima while he was incarcerated and had also taken these belongings from his residence and sold many of them.

Other incidents

A resident of County Road 45 said he started a fire on March 4 and had dug a trench around it, but it jumped the trench. It ended up destroying his shop building. Rock Stand Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call.

A resident of County Road 867 near Radney’s Chapel reported that he found his black pitbull shot to death in the field behind his house on March 3.

Shooting into an occupied dwelling was reported on March 3 on County Road 512 in the Hawk community. The residents found the bullet hole but were not aware of it at the time that it happened.

A woman reported that someone let the air out of two of her vehicle’s tires on March 3 while it was parked on Sunset Drive in Wedowee.
