William A. Brown

(ROANOKE) William A. “Billy” Brown, 81, of Roanoke died Friday, February 25, 2022 at his residence. 

Billy was born in Roanoke on May 14, 1940 to the late Awbrey Charlie Brown and the late Lois Bailey Brown. He was a member of First Baptist Church in LaFayette. He retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Co. after 30 years of service, after retirement he drove a school bus for the Chambers County Board Of Education, and also sang with the Brown Brothers Quartet. 

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in LaFayette with burial in the LaFayette City Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Ferguson and the Rev. Vince Lee officiating. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty Roberts Brown of Roanoke; daughter, Kim (Bill) Ragle of Roanoke; brother, Ford (Pat) Brown of Lanett; four grandchildren, Elise Burgess, Trae Burgess, Britney Brown and Alayna Brown; and one great-grandchild, Hendrix Burgess. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin (Ziggy) Brown; sisters, Vivian Nixon and Ann Carson; brothers, James Brown and Casper Brown. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in LaFayette or to Chattahoochee Hospice in his memory.
