Wedowee looking for solution to parking problems

Wedowee Town Council is continuing its search for a solution to parking problems near one downtown business.

In January, Gene Crouch, co-owner of the newly remodeled Old Waters Inn, addressed the council concerning the need for addition parking near the motel. Crouch had suggested some parallel parking on the median.

At last week’s meeting, Mayor Tim Coe said he had spoken with a representative from the state highway department about the additional parking but had received no response. “I will continue to work with them,” Coe said.

In other business from last week’s meeting and the meeting prior, the council:

  • Noted a vacancy on the zoning board.
  • Appointed Danny Williamson to the zoning board.
  • Approved for Paul Walker to build a roof over the batting cage at French Park.
