Road closures near Standing Rock could impact county travel

(STANDING ROCK) Chambers County Highway Department began preparations for the resurfacing of County Road 268 on Monday, Feb. 7.

This work will include seven culvert (pipe) replacements along County Road 268 from County Road 278 in Standing Rock north 2.21 miles to the Randolph County line.

Work will begin on the southernmost pipe, which is located approximately 546 feet north of County Road 278. The Highway Department is planning to replace two to three pipes each week, weather permitting, and will progress the work from south to north. Each pipe replacement will keep the road closed overnight and is expected to take two days.

Chambers County Highway Department will notify Chambers County EMA/911 of road closures and openings as they occur. You may find updates by following Chambers County Commission on Facebook or by checking the website chamberscountyal.gov.

Resurfacing (paving) work will take place later in the summer.
