One killed, one injured in two-vehicle accident

A two-vehicle crash at approximately 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, has claimed the life of a Wedowee man.

Horace C. Roundtree, 52, was killed when the 2011 Nissan Maxima he was driving collided head-on with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Carl Britt, 72, of Roanoke.

Roundtree was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which occurred on U.S. 431 near the 204 mile marker, approximately 10 miles north of Wedowee. Britt was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment of injuries sustained from the crash.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
