H Perry Shelnutt

(ROANOKE) The funeral for H. Perry Shelnutt, 88, of Roanoke will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at Springfield Baptist Church with Bro. S.T. Janney and Bro. Clayton Scott officiating. Mr. Shelnutt will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday.

Mr. Shelnutt passed away Friday, Feb. 4, at his home.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Shelnutt was born Feb. 28, 1933, the son of William Howard and Amy Bell Townley Shelnutt. He was a Korean War veteran and had retired from Amoco Fabrics and Fibers in 1992. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and Roanoke Masonic Lodge #132.

Survivors include his wife, Annia Hester Shelnutt of Roanoke; son, Chris Shelnutt of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Shelnutt, Elizabeth Ann Pike (Billy) and Logun Shelnutt, all of Roanoke; five great-grandchildren, Kaiden Pike, Destiny Mitchum, C.J. Pike, Katelyn Pike and Madilyn Medeiros; and brother, Grover Shelnutt of Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Shelnutt; and sister, Ruth Snyder.

Members of Roanoke Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers.
