Murder suspect in Heard County captured
HEARD COUNTY, Ga. – A suspect accused of murder in the death of a Heard County, Ga., man Sunday evening was in the custody of Heard County Sheriff’s Office Monday after being captured within a few miles of the vicinity of where the killing took place.
According to a report from HCSO investigator Mike Soprano, 26-year-old Bobby Parker Vickers was found hiding under a deck at a private residence on Bradfield Road.
Multiple calls to 911 had initially identified Vickers as he traveled on foot in the area prior to his capture just before noon today. Soprano said although Vickers has a current Georgia address, he has stronger ties to the Randolph County area.
During the search, the public was advised that the suspect was armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Vickers is accused of shooting and killing 53-year-old James Scott Sessions of Franklin in front of witnesses at around 6 p.m. Sunday.
The shooting took place following a verbal argument between the men. Sessions was Vickers’ stepfather.
Soprano expressed his thanks for the cooperation of numerous other agencies in the area that helped set up a perimeter and aided in the search that began late Sunday evening following the shooting which took place in the front yard of the victim on Rock Mills Road.
Participating agencies included the Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team, U.S. Marshals, West Metro Task Force, Franklin (Ga.) Police Department, Coweta County (Ga.) Sheriff’s Office and Randolph County Sheriff’s office among others.
