Robert Fletcher Cunningham

(WOODLAND) Robert Fletcher Cunningham of Woodland, 91, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Bethel East Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Runels officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Bethel East Baptist Church beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Cunningham was born Oct. 3, 1930, the son of Lamon and Birtha Smith Cunningham. He was a dedicated member of Bethel East Baptist Church, where he attended regularly until just recently. He served in The U.S. Air Force for 12 1/2 years. Mr. Cunningham proudly served with Bethel East Fire Department for 40 years and laid the block for the very first station. He also traveled many miles across the map and stood with his firemen brothers as an honor guard. Mr. Cunningham will be missed by friends and family as he was such an active participant in his church, community and county.

Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty Edalgo Cunningham; daughter, Tina Levette of Dallas, Ga.; son, Charles Lee Dozier of Panama City, Fla.; three grandsons, Blake Dozier of Dallas, Michael Levette of Kennesaw, Ga., and Marcus Rodrigue of Thibodaux, La.; three brothers, Tom Cunningham of Wedowee, Rendell Cunningham of Fairburn, Ga., and Lester Cunningham of Pensacola, Fla.; and three sisters, Mary Tarpley and Jeanette Lowery, both of Bowdon, Ga., and Jean Cook of Ephesus, Ga. Preceding Mr. Cunningham in death are his parents; brothers, Edward “Preacher” Cunningham and Earl Cunningham; sisters, Gertrude Parmer, Cloie Noles and Era Maude Smith; infant sisters, Louise and Dean Cunningham.

Pallbearers will be Blake Dozier, Michael Levette, Mike Bailey, Mark Levette, Joe Noles and Roy Dalrymple. Members of Bethel East Fire Department will serve as honorary guard.
