Teresa Thrift Tate

(PHENIX CITY) The family circle for Teresa Thrift Tate, 54, of Phenix City will be Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. Burial will follow at a later date at Mt. Gilead Community Church Cemetery in the Sikesville community.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until family and friends time at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tate passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, at her residence.

Born in Alexander City, she spent most of her life in Roanoke and Wadley before moving to Phenix City three years ago. Mrs. Tate earned her associate’s degree from Southern Union Community College and worked as a registered nurse for over 13 years, working the last few years at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital. She was always helping others and was a nurturer by heart. Mrs. Tate loved going skydiving, canoeing/floating down the Tallapoosa River and fishing. She also enjoyed gardening and was great at growing tomatoes. Mrs. Tate loved people and was a second mother to many; she loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandson.

Mrs. Tate is survived by her son, Lee Tate (Amber) of Salem; grandson, Noah Tate; two brothers, Robert Thrift (Michelle) of Section and Scott Thrift (Jennifer) of Notasulga; niece, Kirstie Thrift; two nephews, Steve Whaley (Nichole) and Colby Thrift; three nieces/daughters, Summer Duffee (Channon), Paige Roberts and Aleshia Slaughter (Scott); and nephew/son, Phillip Roberts; many other nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Thrift and Opal Butler Thrift; two sisters, Marilyn and Lisa Roberts; and infant brother, Jimmy Wayne Thrift.
