(ROANOKE) Rosie Lee Wright, 100, a former resident of Luckie Street, Roanoke, currently residing at Traylor Nursing Home, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Wedowee Hospital.
Mrs. Wright will be in state one hour prior to funeral services on Saturday, Oct. 13, at First Missionary Baptist Church, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. The Rev. Gilbert E. Staples will officiate with the Rev. William Dillard serving as eulogist. Burial will follow in Rock Mills Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born March 12, 1912, one of 13 children born to the late John and Ella Trammell Smith in the Wehadkee community. At an early age, she joined Friendship Baptist Church, Bacon Level. She devoted her productive years to providing domestic services in private homes.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Wright of Sylacauga; one sister, Dorothy Mae Parker of Roanoke; a special nephew, James Parker Jr. of Roanoke; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Wright; and 11 siblings.
