(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Victor F. Ward Jr., 65, of Roanoke will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Rev. J.D. Bearden officiating. Mr. Ward will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Ward died Sunday, June 3, at his home.

Mr. Ward was born May 16, 1947, the son of Victor F. Ward Sr. and Martha Poe Ward. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and had worked as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt.

Mr. Ward is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (husband Mithat) Venice of Detroit; two sons, Terry (wife Amy) Bennett of Roanoke and Travis (wife Stephanie) Ward of Ashville, N.C.; three sisters, Vesta Watson of Sylva, N.C., Lisa Carson of Leeds, Judy Odum of Winterhaven, Fla., and Selena Hardin of Andrews, N.C.; one brother, Henry Ward of Wansea, Ill.; father-in-law, James Watson of Roanoke; mother-in-law, Jimmy May Garza of Franklin, Ga.; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ward; his parents; one son, Brandon Ward; and two brothers, Charles Creel and Dale Ward.

Pallbearers will be Shane Gilland, Viron Cantrell, Joey Rice, Kenan Gosdin, Blain Gosdin and Ronnie Watson.
