(ROME, Ga.) James William Vaughn, 64, of Rome, Ga., formerly of Lanett, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.
The funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Lanett Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Pete Paulson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.
Born Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1947, in West Point, Ga., Mr. Vaughn was the son of the late Cecil R. and Edna Hutto Vaughn. He was a graduate of Lanett High School and Southern Polytechnic University with a degree in architecture. Mr. Vaughn retired from M.D. Hodges. He had served as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Vaughn was an avid outdoorsman.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Sharon Kaminski Vaughn of Rome; his daughter, Alison and husband Mark Puckett of Powder Springs, Ga.; a son, Eric and wife Jennifer Vaughn of Lindale, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Keri Homan of Marietta, Ga., a stepson, Brent and wife Samantha Homan of Marietta; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Gary Vaughn of Lanett and Stephen Vaughn of Woodland. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Vaughn.
