FOSTER'S CROSSROADS--A Heflin woman was the victim of a tragic accident on Friday evening at Foster's Crossroads.

Cora Lea Gaines Beason, 95, was the driver of a 2004 Buick that collided with a 2005 International tractor-trailer driven by Johnny Brown of Georgia. Brown was uninjured, but Beason died at the scene.

The accident happened between 6 and 7 p.m. on U.S 431 near DP Oil.

Beason was the oldest member of Heflin Baptist Church and served in the choir. She had owned and operated a beauty shop in Heflin for more than 50 years and served as a Pink Lady at Regional Medical Center for more than 20 years.
