WEDOWEE - A Woodland woman died Thursday morning from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on U.S. 431 in front of Lake Wedowee Motel & Cabins.

The accident around 7:48 a.m. involved a silver 2001 Pontiac Firebird car and an unloaded cattle truck. It is said the cattle truck was trying to avoid a flatbed Lowe's truck that was turning when it collided with the northbound car. Neither of the truck drivers were injured.

Inside the car were the driver, Mindy Spradlin Brown, 32, her 5-week-old son Dylan, passenger Bethany Green, 35, of Woodland and Green's son, Elin Shelton, 3. They were en route to Anniston to a doctor's appointment.

Brown died later from her injuries, but baby Dylan was checked out and released from Wedowee Hospital. Green and her son were transferred by helicopter to Birmingham.

According to Randolph County E-911, those responding to the accident were Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Wedowee Police Department, Southern Ambulance Transport, three reserve officers, State Troopers, a Lifesaver helicopter and two Air Evac helicopters and volunteer fire departments from Morrison Crossroads, Foster's Crossroads and A&M. The Troopers' investigation continues.
