Wedowee man dies, five injured in crash

Victor Alfonso Vargas Flores, 24, of Wedowee, was fatally injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night and five others were injured, according to the Alabama Highway Patrol office at the Jacksonville Post.

The accident occurred at 11:20 p.m. on Alabama Highway 9 in Cleburne County. Vargas-Flores was driving a 2001 Mercury.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2005 Hyundai, was Danielle Fields, 18, of Cumming, Ga. Her passengers were Calvin Sellers, 26; Chris Campbell, 19; Elizabeth Masri, 17, and Kevin Gravitt, 19. They were all injured and transported to Regional Medical Center. Hometowns were not listed for the other injuries.

Services for Vargas Flores were held Tuesday at Benefield Funeral Chapel. Burial was to follow in Los Ocetes Municipio, Panjamo, Guanajuato.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters. He was a cook at El Jalapeno.
